Israeli Finance Minister Signals Possible New Attacks on Gaza and Lebanon Before Elections

Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s Finance Minister, issued a stark warning that the regime might carry out new attacks against the Gaza Strip and Lebanon ahead of upcoming elections in the occupied territories. He described the current situation as unstable and stated that the existing ceasefire is unlikely to last long.
Smotrich emphasized that no specific timeline or operational plans have yet been set for launching these attacks, but he believes the security conditions are such that a return to hostilities is probable.
These remarks come amid ongoing reports of continued attacks and violations of ceasefire commitments by Israel since the ceasefire was announced in Gaza and Lebanon. This issue has cast serious doubts on the durability of the ceasefire.
Regional observers warn that such hawkish positions not only fail to reduce tensions but could also aggravate the humanitarian situation in the conflict zones.
